CORAL PROJECT
Learn more about the marine life of the Maldives
OUR PROJECT
The coral regeneration project aims to revitalise the reef following both natural and man-made damage. The main goal is to assist in the recovery of the reef that has been damaged by different forces such as wave action, sand turbulence, and global warming. There are different tried-and-tested methods used for regrowing fragmented corals, and our team on the island is trying these methods to see what is suitable in this environment.
Coral reef-building is a slow and long process that needs constant attention in the initial phase. Each restoration site will have a different set of circumstances to consider, and regular monitoring is necessary to ensure the replanted corals will survive.
